Below is a table of the Ten Commandments as spoken and written by God using the King James Bible and the Ten Commandments according to the Roman Catholic Church. They say that their authority stands above the word of God and that they can change what they want and God will agree with them. Note they deleted the second Commandment and changed the Sabbath to Sunday and split the 10th Commandment into two to get back to Ten Commandments. If you follow them all the way down from the second Commandment you'll see the Catholic Church is always one ahead of the King James in the Decalogue. Finally at the tenth Commandment they break it into two and make it the 9th and 10th Commandments.

This truth can be found from the URL below. The Roman Catholic version is the right hand column titled “A Traditional Catechetical Formula.” The URL is archive/ccc_css/ archive/ catechism/command.htm. You will need to copy and paste the address as links promote search engine ranking and I cannot promote what is not Biblical truth.

In 1562 the Archbishop declared that tradition now stood above scripture. “The authority of the Church is illustrated most clearly by the scriptures, for on one hand she recommends them, declares them to be divine, and offers them to us to be read, and on the other hand, the legal precepts in the scriptures taught by the Lord have ceased by virtue of the same authority. The Sabbath, the most glorious day in the law, has been changed into the Lord's day. These and other similar matters have not ceased by virtue of Christ's teaching (for He says that He has come to fulfill the law, not to destroy it), but they have been changed by the authority of the Church.” Gaspare de Posso Archbishop of Reggio, Council of Trent.

The bible warns us that the Roman Catholic Church would change God's laws as well as prophetic times. They are responsible for the manufactured prophecy in regards to a seven-year tribulation period that in the last few decades has spread like a plague throughout the world pushed along by Satan and other fallen angels. Satan has successfully spread this and other lies into top selling books and even into fictional movies that people take as Gospel truth. The left behind series is one example of this. Unfortunately a large and growing number of people continue to believe this lie as a result. A wealth of information can be found on the Web site called God's Sabbath Truth. It goes into great detail on the Antichrist power and what they did to the Sabbath and prophecy.

This is what the Bible says in warning us that these things would happen. Daniel 7:25 "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time." Note it says they would think to change laws. This is because in reality man cannot change God's law. This is what the Bible has to say. Mark 7:6-9 GNB says, ”Jesus answered them, "How right Isaiah was when he prophesied about you! You are hypocrites, just as he wrote: 'These people, says God, honor me with their words, but their heart is really far away from me. It is no use for them to worship me, because they teach human rules as though they were my laws!' "You put aside God's command and obey human teachings." And Jesus continued, "You have a clever way of rejecting God's law in order to uphold your own teaching.

King James Version

Ten Commandments
Roman Catholic Version

1st I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 1st I am the LORD thy God. Thou shalt have no strange gods before Me.
2nd Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them…(abbrev)   (There is idolatry in the Papal system so the 2nd Commandment has been deleted or sometimes absorbed into the first. All remaining Commandments are therefore shifted along one count.)
3rd Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God In vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. 2nd Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.
4th Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. 3rd Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.

(The Sabbath is fourth by normal count. The day to be kept is no longer mentioned since they changed the Sabbath to Sunday.)

(Note that God had more to say about the fourth Commandment than all others and with good reason. It is very important.
5th Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. 4th Honour thy father and thy mother.
6th Thou shalt not kill. 5th Thou shalt not kill.
7th Thou shalt not commit adultery. 6th Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8th Thou shalt not steal. 7th Thou shalt not steal.
9th Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 8th Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
10th Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. 9th Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife.

(Tenth Commandment is split into two to get back to Ten Commandments.)
10th Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s goods.
